Garden travel, ideas, inspiration and great Buffalo, NY gardens by the well-traveled past president of Garden Walk Buffalo, America's largest garden tour.
Recently, while atop the garage, I took this photo of the garden. My garden looks better the farther away you are. At least the potager garden looks good from here. With all the structure from the boxwoods, paths, and rose standard, you can barely tell the vegetables are just barely scraping along.
My garden looks better from a distance, too. Especially at this time of the year. I'm perfectly happy to have people sit on the piazza with a glass of wine admiring it, rather than walking through it.
I have some parts of the garden which 'look best from far away'. My sisters and I use that term for our aging status and appearance. It always makes us chuckle.
Great view! I keep trying to figure out a way to take photos from my upstairs windows but I can't get the best angle. I don't want to crawl on the roof. Everything looks good from your garage roof.
John Elsley of Wayside Gardens and Song Sparrow once said he liked to get on the roof to shoot the garden. You really see its structure that way. With our ranch house it is not too hard to do, but your house is another story!
