With anemones like these, who needs friends?
Mid-November these anemone were still going strong. It took them a few years to establish themselves enough to get to this point. Now I have to move them. This is smack-dab exactly where I want to put my new water fountain (details here). Now I not only have to find a new spot, but may have to wait for them to re-establish themselves to get back to this size & loveliness. We're not spending time in the backyard in November, maybe I'll replant them in the front yard so they can be admired appropriately by the public.
They are indeed beautiful... I can relate as I have a number of anemones that also need moving this spring because they have spread so much. Larry
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to have them in a place where more people could share their loveliness. But I understand what you're saying about the length of time it takes for them to habituate to a new spot.
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved mine, they never really came back...in fact, I think they're gone now.
ReplyDeleteLarry,
ReplyDeleteI never considered spreading to be an issue, until you mentioned it! Obviously not a problem right now.
Patricia,
Most of my spring and fall bloomers are in my front yard. We spend no tome in the backyard then so no sense in planting any (or many).
Mad Cow,
Now I'm depressed...
If they don't take the move well, please feel free to come down to Colden and take some of mine! They have spread aggressively and I have to cull them back every spring.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely and I get so many complements on them in the late summer/fall. They just tend to take over!
