I'm guessing the leaf on the right is the Cercis canadensis aka Redbud! Keep this up ... Plant i.d. is fun!
ReplyDeletestriking resemblance. I agree with Pam, the one on the right looks like the Redbud to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The red bud is on the right. Now you'll have to let us know!
ReplyDeleteOne on the left is the Redbud.
ReplyDeleteI think Redbud is on the left too.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the lefties!
ReplyDeleteRedbud-left. I just planted one this spring, a gorgeous Forest Pansy.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I don't have a guess. But I do find it interesting that similar looking plants tend to gravitate towards each other. Another case in point: Embedded within my Anthriscus 'Ravenswing' purchased at a plant sale this spring was a healthy clump of our native geranium sporting its nearly identical foliage. I think Science has some work to do!
ReplyDeleteI need to go out & look at my Redbud's leaves before I answer, but it's dark out so I'll go for the one on the left as being the Redbud. Is this sort of like long-married couples who start to resemble each other?
ReplyDeleteHmm, many are leaning left but I'd have to agree with the righties. Redbud right, I say.
ReplyDeleteOkay - the answer is...
ReplyDeleteThe Redbud leaf is on the right. The Dutchman's pipe is on the left. Whereas the shape, color and veining are very similar, if you saw them in person, you'd know immediately (if you were familiar with either. The Redbud leaf has a smooth texture and the Dutchman's pipe has a sort of velvety texture. The curl of the two different leaves are different as well.
Hmmm...velvety texture. Definitely can't tell that from a photo!
